Mission Statement

To deliver technology that enables iPhone developers to easily integrate multiplayer capabilities into their games, by providing a hosted solution that substantially reduces or completely eliminates the need for investments into server infrastructure and the software that is necessary to utilize and maintain such system.

Proof of concept

It all started when the founders of ByteClub decided to leverage their years of experience in building large scale multiplayer gaming systems and apply it to iPhone applications. The first step was the proof of concept called Scramboni - a very simple game about scrambled words. It was released as a web app for the iPhone in the summer of 2008 and then made into a native iPhone application a couple of months later. Unlike the vast majority of games made for this particular mobile platform, Scramboni was meant to be played online with other people from around the world. It has proven that it is possible to create fun and engaging multiplayer games for the iPhone and that there is enough demand for such applications.

What's Next?

The technology that made the multiplayer aspect of Scramboni possible is called ByteClub Multiplayer Gaming Platform. We are now working to get this product into the hands of other iPhone developers, to be used in their own applications.

Why is ByteClub relevant?

Multiplayer games are more interesting, addictive and fun. They provide more value to the players and open up market opportunities for the developers. On the other hand, the technology to enable multiplayer gaming is complex. We explore this theme in depth in an article called "Where are all the iPhone multiplayer games?". Come hear our presentation at the 360|iDev iPhone developers conference.

The Company

We are a small but accomplished group of software engineers, experienced in building real-time multiplayer games and scalable infrastructure. In our previous life, we have built the largest online poker aggregator site on the Internet, that supported 15,000+ users playing at hundreds of virtual poker tables simultaneously, 24 hours a day/7 days a week. We are based in NYC.

"Stop playing with yourself"?

Solitary gaming must be stopped. Multiplayer, social and otherwise connected games are on the march. Join the revolution.
