Recently, after putting words "iPhone" and "developer" on my Facebook and LinkedIn profiles, I started getting a trickle of "My client is looking for an iPhone developer" messages from headhunters, at a rate of one a week or so. Then I joined the New York iPhone Software Developers Meetup group - that added another small stream of similar inquiries via the mailing list and direct messages from other members. Same story on forums and mailing lists (Touch Arcade, iphonedevsdk.com, iphonesb on Google Groups): job offers in this particular field seem to be on the rise. Most of these opportunities aren't the ones where you will be making $100,000 in a month, since a lot of it is work-for-hire. But nevertheless, given the not-doing-so-good economy and layoffs, having these options is great. That is, if you got the skills. A few recruiters even attended the recent iPhone Developer Meetup. If you are just starting out with iPhone development or need an extra source of income, take note: it's a free event, you get to learn new techniques AND might even find a job there. So, what are you waiting for? Get that SDK and start hacking! P.S. Saw this on FriendFeed: a private mailing list dedicated to iPhone job offers: http://toxicsoftware.com/iphoneswpro/ |
