Hello there! Since launching our private beta, we've already received several inquiries and a few brave developers got the chance to play around with our code and share some feedback. Today, we are trying something new - a short video explaining some of the things about the SDK and how to get up and running with it in 6 minutes or less. This is our first attempt at screencasting, so don't judge too harshly :-)
Let us know if you like the format and if you'd like to see more in the future. Enjoy!

P.S. Make sure to watch the video in "high quality".
It's been a while. They said "release early", but it's easier said then done. If you ever had to take your haphazardly written code and turn it into something other people are supposed to use, you know what I mean. Now that we have finished the very first "semi-public" release of our SDK, it's time to welcome you to join our "multiplayer conspiracy".
Secondly, even though we are calling this "beta", the core technology itself has been in production for over 6 months now, happily supporting over 40,000 Scramboni players. It just has been documented and re-packaged into something that YOU can plug into YOUR app. The "beta" badge will be coming off whenever we feel that majority of developers are comfortable with the platform, understand how it operates and trust it enough to incorporate it into their own iPhone applications. So in some respects, it's actually your call and not ours.
Thirdly, even though we would like as many people as possible to take advantage of what we are doing as soon as possible, we expect the initial beta period to be pretty intense in terms of asking for and receiving feedback. Therefore, we can accommodate only a limited number of beta participants at this time. The program will be expanded as we go along until it is no longer "private" and anybody can register and use our software.

and tell us a bit about yourself, how you intend to use the technology and what your experience level with the iPhone SDK is. If you have written some iPhone apps, we'd love to hear about that as well! If you haven't, that's OK too - everybody has to start somewhere, right?

Recently, after putting words "iPhone" and "developer" on my Facebook and LinkedIn profiles, I started getting a trickle of "My client is looking for an iPhone developer" messages from headhunters, at a rate of one a week or so. Then I joined the New York iPhone Software Developers Meetup group - that added another small stream of similar inquiries via the mailing list and direct messages from other members. Same story on forums and mailing lists (Touch Arcade, iphonedevsdk.com, iphonesb on Google Groups): job offers in this particular field seem to be on the rise. Most of these opportunities aren't the ones where you will be making $100,000 in a month, since a lot of it is work-for-hire. But nevertheless, given the not-doing-so-good economy and layoffs, having these options is great. That is, if you got the skills.
A few recruiters even attended the recent iPhone Developer Meetup. If you are just starting out with iPhone development or need an extra source of income, take note: it's a free event, you get to learn new techniques AND might even find a job there.
So, what are you waiting for? Get that SDK and start hacking!
P.S. Saw this on FriendFeed: a private mailing list dedicated to iPhone job offers: http://toxicsoftware.com/iphoneswpro/
See, there's enough work to go around.
Was doing a bit of research on the topic of how to detect whether a running iPhone app is a legitimate or a cracked copy. This, of course, requires "knowing your enemy", so to speak. If you decide to implement a detection mechanism in your own app, you might find this information/links useful. Everything that's mentioned below is taken from sources that are 2 or 3 google searches away.
